Well articulated and beautifully written as always Grace, thank you. As a Brit it's terribly disappointing seeing less than a 1% vote share for Jill!! In our election we have our anti genocide green party 7%, I'm hoping that climbs up gradually and there's a good bit of hope there. But less than 1% ah man, that's just frustrating...but there's always hope, we keep going, we keep working, seeking God's help and mercy.
Grace, have you read the book, The Fate of Abraham.. Why the west is wrong about Islam. It’s by Peter Oborne and is a real eye opener about the myths, fabrications and downright lies that have contributed to the poor relationship between Islam and three of the major western powers, America, Tge UK and France.
The power that the Evangelical Christian’s have in American politics is disturbing and I say that as an ex Evangelical Christian myself. Many of my Christian acquaintances have the strange belief that God has sent Trump, its mind boggling to me. I struggle to understand how they can preach a gospel of love and forgive whilst condoning a genocide but that stems from a misunderstanding of scripture about Israel being God’s chosen people.
I resonate with your frustration, Grace. I feel that since COVID, we’ve lived in an apocalyptic like state. Interestingly, the word apocalypse has roots that mean unveiling and that has definitely been true more and more with each passing year. I think a lot of imagination, strategic community organizing based in radical love and healing, and faith is going to be needed to break down these oppressive systems. We cannot play by their rules anymore. One of my favorite quotes from Audre Lorde, “The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house.”
Thankfully, God is the ultimate power and God has given us different tools to help dismantle power structures because power only belongs to God. May we ground ourselves in that liberation work and bring it forth to reality. InshAllah.
Oh Grace, this is brilliant. I think I had the same conversation at 2am this morning. The Prayer of Need. That’s what I tried praying.
The misogyny of America is greater than anything else it could stand for. That our so called ummah couldn’t vote on a single issue unanimously when we are all anti-genocide says so much about our core. When long term strategy means ignoring the hypocritical and tyrannical evil in front of us ahead.

Thank you so much Hussain! I really appreciate your kind words and may God help us all keep fighting the good fight! :)
