Hello Grace, thank you for all the tips. They're very helpful and practical. I am sorry that it continues to be an ongoing process. You're right that it is a practice in patience and kindness as well as discernement when seeking information and support. I do have a very practical couple of questions as I try to be closer to Allah and stronger internally. Please try not to laugh. I want to know, if as a Muslim woman if I have to never go swimming again. I used to do lane swims for my mental and physical health and now I don't go anymore. Secondly, there are no Halal foods near me. I am now not eating enough protein and miss chicken or fish once in a while. Is that just a price to pay? I am 67 years old. Thank you for any advice or information you can point me to Grace. Did you have to go through these questions too?

Salaams dear Neve, these are important questions! I was always taught that there is no embarrassment in religion when we are seeking what God wants from us. In my humble opinion, you absolutely should swim! If your local pool does not offer women-only times to swim or is unwilling to do so, then I would suggest buying a “modest swimsuit” that is akin to a wetsuit but lighter in material. You can find them online (I don’t recommend purchasing from SHEIN because they use the labor of our dear Uyghur brothers and sisters as forced labor to produce their fast fashion. As to halal meat, I can share with you my experience. I was taught that eating halal is not meant to be a hardship as we know it is often more expensive or in your case, difficult to get. When I did eat meat, we often did not eat halal for those reasons and instead ate what was available. You must eat enough protein to keep your health! We know that in a situation where the choice is to eat pork or starve, God would allow you to eat pork. Hope this helps and may God forgive any errors in what I am writing. And God Knows Best. 🤲🏼❤️ Hope this helps! Ramadan Mubarak! May God always guide you to the most beautiful path.

Drear Grace, thank you very much for taking the time to think about and respond to my questions. I really appreciate it. What you said makes sense. I will look into the wet suit as there are no women only times near me at the pool. I am also going to do my best in terms of halal food and avoid what I can. Thank you again Grace. May God bless you. Ramadan Mubarak.
